Beyond the big names and star-studded parties, the Celebrity Championship is also committed to local charities. Since its inception in 1999, the Celebrity Championship has raised over $1.6 million for San Diego based charities. The noteworthy donations of the Celebrity Championship would not be possible without the generous contributions of the participating celebrities, businesses, and attendees who continue to support the tournament's worthy causes each year.

2017 Charitable Beneficiaries

Over $100,000 in charitable proceeds were raised during the 2017 Celebrity Championship hosted by Marshall Faulk.  The charitable proceeds will be donated to the following:

The Junior Seau Foundation

Junior Seau founded the Junior Seau Foundation in 1992 to raise money and resources for programs that inspire young people to face life’s challenges with enthusiasm, hope and dignity. The foundation has since donated over $4 million to organizations providing services to educate and empower young people through the support of child abuse prevention, drug and alcohol awareness, recreational opportunities, anti-juvenile delinquency efforts and complimentary educational programs. This amount includes funds designated to an endowment fund which benefits, in perpetuity, programs supporting youth with the desire but not the means to improve their lives. Also included is $500,000 in scholarships distributed through the Scholars of Excellence program and over $365,000 towards Junior’s Shop with a Jock® program. Shop with a Jock®

Charitable proceeds from the Celebrity Championship hosted by Marshall Faulk will benefit the Shop with a Jock® Program of the Junior Seau Foundation. Every December, the Junior Seau Foundation will team up with Target and over 250 local professional and amateur athletes to give 250 underprivileged children from the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Diego the opportunity to shop for gifts for their loved ones. Junior believes that it is important for children to learn about giving during the holiday season – he hopes the children will experience the true meaning of the season as they shop with their jock for gifts for their families.

The Marshall Faulk Foundation

The Marshall Faulk Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life for San Diego youth by increasing opportunities for them to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. To date, the Marshall Faulk Foundation has provided more than $1,000,000 in financial assistance and hands-on involvement to programs in Indianapolis, St. Louis, New Orleans and Southern California. The Marshall Faulk Foundation is proud to work with the Aztec Club by providing football scholarships to San Diego State University athletes from the greater San Diego community. To date, The Marshall Faulk Foundation has awarded The Aztec Club $125,000 for scholarships. The Marshall Faulk Foundation also provides funding for The JRYMCA's youth sports programs and after care. These programs support children and young adults in San Diego's most critical service area, South East San Diego. Marshall's ties to the YMCA program began in his early childhood years. In Marshall's words, "the YMCA was the best experience when I was a kid. I learned teamwork, how to share and most of all how to respect others." The Marshall Faulk Foundation has donated over $60,000 to the JRYMCA since 2009. For more information visit: http://www.marshallfaulk.com
